Neptune Scripts

Neptune ships with a few simple commandline applications that might be helpful in some situations. 

Neptune Script ram-usage.sh

In the following you'll see a list of all commands with a short explaination.

remove Moves file to trash (arguments: Filename)
colors-bash Shows basic colors that can be used by bash
fstab-uuid-converter Converts /dev/hd* or /dev/sd* Values of the /etc/fstab to UUID Values
updates-available.sh Shows available updates (needs root rights)
wine_colors_from_gtk Import colors from gtk to wine to match theme
permissions-save Saves all permissions on / filesystem (creates a permissions.txt file / needs root rights)
remove-oldkernel.sh Remove old non used kernel versions (needs root rights)
rei

Installs Cloning and Backupsoftware (partimage & sbackup)

argument: backup-software-list
Saves softwarelist

argument: restore-software-list
restores softwarelist

arecord.sh

Simple audio recording

arguments:

Input audio device (z.B. plughw:1,0) 

Outputfile

btrfs-snapshot

Creates a snapshot on a btrfs filesystem (needs root rights)

arguments (optional):

Snapshotname

Rootpartitionsuuid

Kernelversion

sound-on.sh

Turns up volume on all alsa mixers (useful if your soundcard is detected but is muted)

showmyip

Shows current internet address

save-kde-config.sh

(LEGACY 4.5.x only)

Saves current KDE Plasma configuration together with all theme settings aswell as the desktop settings in a profile . 

arguments:

-s <Profilename> - Saves profile as Profilename

-r <Profilename> - Restores profile Profilename

-l - List all known profiles

remove-orphans.sh

Removes remains of applications that once were installed (needs root rights)

activate_swap.sh

Create a swapfile

Argument: 

-d - Deactivate swapfile

tutorial

A small and simple tutorial for dealing with the bash commandline

vistafonts-installer

Installs modern Microsoft Fonts Calibri, Cambria,Candara,Consola,Constan,Corbel (needs root rights) 

most-used-commands

List most used commands that were executed on the commandline (Information gathered from bash history)

strip-persistent-home.sh

Extract /etc/ and /home from persistency file (only works on Live USB Stick)

pw-gen

Generate random password 

argument:

Number of chars (needs to be given)

unrpm

Extract rpm file to current folder

argument:

Path to rpm file

disable-sudo.sh

Disables sudo and switches to su

list-packages.sh

List all installed packages sorted by size

nerv
